How we check these, and what we're unsure about

Every rate above was re-checked on 2026-07-24 against each platform's own fee documentation — help centres and seller policies, not fee-calculator blogs, which contradicted each other and the platforms on nearly every number we tested. Six of the eleven platforms here had at least one published rate that had gone stale since the previous check.

Where a platform's own documents disagree with each other, we say so rather than pick whichever number reads better. There is currently 1 such case.

Disputed · Facebook Marketplace

Meta publishes two different selling fees for individual sellers and we can't reconcile them.

What we model
5% per shipment, or a flat $0.40 on shipments of $8.00 or less Source: Meta Business Help Centre
What the other document says
10% per transaction with a $0.80 minimum, calculated on the entire transaction including shipping and applicable taxes Source: Meta commerce policies, facebook.com/legal/merchant_policies

The help-centre figure matches what sellers consistently report being charged. The commerce policy is the binding legal text and explicitly names Individual Sellers, so it can't be dismissed either — but the help-centre article is behind a JavaScript wall and returns no readable content, so the two can't be reconciled from Meta's public pages.

What to do: Check an actual payout breakdown in your own Facebook seller account before pricing on thin margins.

Open the Facebook Marketplace calculator

Two smaller caveats that don't affect the table above: Beckett Marketplace doesn't publish seller rates at all, so it's excluded from our card-venue comparison rather than estimated, and TCGplayer's 2.5% + $0.30 transaction fee is widely reported but isn't stated on the TCGplayer fee pages we could reach — its 10.75% commission is confirmed from TCGplayer's own seller announcement.

eBay

Auctions and fixed-price marketplace for general goods

Open calculator
Selling fee
13.6% (varies by category)
Processing
Bundled in FVF
Per-order
$0.40 (>$10) · $0.30 (≤$10)
Listing
  • The Final Value Fee (FVF) is calculated on the total amount the buyer pays — item price + shipping + handling + sales tax.
  • Per-order fee is tiered: $0.30 on orders of $10.00 or less and $0.40 on orders over $10.00. It is charged once per buyer purchase regardless of how many items are in the order, and is waived entirely on Athletic Shoes sold at $150 or more.
  • When the buyer's registered address is outside the US, eBay adds an international fee of 1.65% to the entire order total.
  • Promoted Listings Standard charges your chosen ad rate only when the sale is attributed to a click on the ad within the last 30 days.
  • Store subscribers see slightly reduced FVFs in some categories — this calculator uses the standard non-store rates.
Last verified 2026-07-24 Payout: 2 business days after delivery confirmation (initial holds apply to new sellers)

Mercari

Casual marketplace for general goods

Open calculator
Selling fee
10% (item + shipping)
Processing
None for sellers
Per-order
Listing
  • Sellers pay a flat 10% selling fee on the item price plus any buyer-paid shipping. That is the entire seller cost — there is no payment processing fee.
  • The 2.9% + $0.50 payment processing fee that older guides still list was charged to the BUYER, not the seller, and Mercari removed it entirely on 6 January 2025.
  • Buyers now pay a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee on the item price plus shipping. It does not come out of your payout, but it raises the buyer's total — price with that in mind.
  • Cashing out by direct deposit is free (the old $2 fee was dropped in January 2025); a failed direct deposit costs $2. Instant Pay costs a flat $3 per cash-out, capped at $600/month.
  • Mercari ran a zero-seller-fee experiment and reversed it — the 10% fee returned on 6 January 2025 for new and updated listings.
Last verified 2026-07-24 Payout: Direct deposit in 1-3 business days after request, or instant transfer for a fee

Poshmark

Fashion-forward social marketplace

Open calculator
Selling fee
20% ($15+) · $2.95 (<$15)
Processing
Bundled in commission
Per-order
Listing
  • Poshmark takes a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on sales of $15 or more. There is no separate payment processing fee — it's bundled into the commission.
  • The commission is charged on the listing price. Buyers pay shipping separately via Poshmark's flat-rate label, so shipping does not increase your fee.
  • There are no listing fees and no monthly subscription. The 20% is the highest headline rate of the major resale platforms, but it is genuinely all-inclusive.
  • Poshmark reverted the US marketplace to this structure on 24 October 2024, removing the Buyer Protection fee it had briefly introduced.
  • Under $15 the flat $2.95 is punishing in percentage terms — a $10 sale gives up nearly 30%. Bundling cheap items is usually better than listing them individually.
Last verified 2026-07-24 Payout: 3 days after the buyer receives the item (or after the acceptance window closes)

StockX

Authenticated marketplace for sneakers, streetwear, and collectibles

Open calculator
Selling fee
9% → 7% (by seller level)
Processing
3% (item only)
Per-order
Listing
  • Transaction fee starts at 9% at Level 1 and drops 0.5% per level to 7% at Level 5 — but the levels are based on QUARTERLY volume, not lifetime trades, and reset each quarter. Level 5 needs 800 sales and $100,000 in a single quarter.
  • Payment processing is a flat 3% applied to the item price only (StockX handles buyer shipping separately).
  • A $5.00 minimum seller fee applies in the US. On low-priced sales the percentage math is irrelevant — anything under about $42 at Level 1 hits the $5 floor instead.
  • StockX has launched a separate Listings Marketplace that currently charges sellers no selling, processing or shipping fee — buyers cover those instead. It is limited to select sellers via a waitlist, so it is not yet the rate most sellers get. The rates here are the Verified Marketplace.
  • StockX provides a discounted FedEx shipping label after each sale. Enter what you actually pay for shipping under 'Your shipping cost' for accurate profit.
  • Authentication is included — no separate fee. Failed authentications return the item to the seller without payout.
  • Some category-specific rates (e.g., trading cards) may differ from the standard sneaker/streetwear rates shown here. Verify category before relying.
Last verified 2026-07-24 Payout: Released after StockX authenticates and ships to buyer (typically 5-10 days from sale)

Etsy

Marketplace for handmade, vintage, and craft supplies

Open calculator
Selling fee
6.5% (item + shipping)
Processing
3% + $0.25
Per-order
Listing
$0.20
  • The $0.20 listing fee is charged each time an item is listed or renewed (every 4 months). This calculator counts it once per sale.
  • Transaction fee (6.5%) applies to the item price plus shipping the buyer pays. Sales tax is excluded from this fee.
  • Payment processing (3% + $0.25 for US sellers) is applied to the total amount the buyer pays. International rates differ.
  • Offsite Ads fee is only charged when a buyer clicks an Etsy ad off-platform (Google, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) and completes a purchase within 30 days.
  • Sellers with $10,000+ in sales over the trailing 365 days are auto-enrolled in Offsite Ads at the reduced 12% rate. Under that threshold the program is optional at 15%.
  • Offsite Ads fee is capped at $100 per order, regardless of sale size.
  • Etsy Plus ($10/month) bundles extra listing credits, custom packaging, and store features. Not modeled per-sale here.
  • International selling adds currency conversion and regional VAT charges in some markets — not factored into this calculator.

Depop

Social marketplace for vintage, streetwear, and youth fashion

3.3% + $0.45
Per-order
Listing
  • Depop removed its 10% selling fee for sellers in 2024 — sellers now pay only the payment processing fee.
  • eBay completed its $1.2bn acquisition of Depop on July 30, 2026. No seller fee change has been announced and these rates are current — eBay says Depop will operate as a complementary business, retaining its distinct brand, platform, customer experience and culture.
  • Payment processing (3.3% + $0.45) applies to the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays.
  • Buyers see a separate 'Marketplace Fee' added at checkout (varies by item value). This is paid by the buyer and does not reduce your payout.
  • Depop Boost (promoted listings) is optional — you set the ad rate and pay only on attributed sales. Not factored into base calculations here.
  • Depop's fee structure has changed multiple times in recent years. Verify current rates in Depop's seller help center before relying on this for high-value sales.

Whatnot

Live commerce marketplace for collectibles, sneakers, and streetwear

Open calculator
Selling fee

2.9% + $0.30
Per-order
Listing
  • Whatnot charges 8% commission on the item's final sale price, excluding shipping and taxes.
  • Comics, TCG, Sports Singles and Toys & Hobbies currently pay 8% only on the first $1,500 of a sale and 0% on the portion above it — a limited-time promotion that makes Whatnot dramatically cheaper than anywhere else on high-value cards.
  • Coins & Money runs at a reduced 4% commission, also capped at $1,500 with 0% above.
  • Payment processing is 2.9% of the total order value plus a $0.30 transaction fee, charged per transaction even when several purchases are bundled into one shipment.
  • There are no fees to create, store or manage listings.

Listing
  • Local pickup is completely free — no selling fee, no processing fee. Fees only apply when you sell with shipping.
  • For shipped orders Meta's help centre states a 5% selling fee per shipment, or a flat $0.40 on shipments of $8.00 or less. That is the rate modelled here.
  • IMPORTANT — Meta's own documents disagree. The Commerce/merchant policies at facebook.com/legal/merchant_policies state that 'Meta will charge Individual Sellers a fee of 10% per transaction, with a minimum fee of $0.80', calculated on the entire transaction including shipping and applicable taxes. We could not reconcile the two from Meta's public pages, so we model the lower, more widely reported help-centre rate and flag the discrepancy rather than pick a side. Check your own payout breakdown before pricing thin margins.
  • The fee is calculated on the sale total including the shipping the buyer pays, not the item price alone.
  • Payment processing is bundled into the selling fee — there is no separate processing charge.
Last verified 2026-07-24 Payout: 5-10 business days after delivery confirmation (shipped orders)

  • Vinted charges sellers nothing: no listing fee, no commission, and no payment processing fee. You keep 100% of the price you set.
  • Buyers pay the shipping and a separate Buyer Protection fee at checkout. Neither reduces your payout, but both raise the buyer's total — price with that in mind.
  • The only optional seller cost is an item Bump, a paid promotion that lifts a listing in search and feeds for 3 or 7 days. It is never required and is not included in these calculations.
  • Vinted Pro is a separate account type for business sellers with its own terms and fee structure. The zero-fee model described here is the personal-seller experience.

GOAT

Authenticated marketplace for sneakers, apparel, and luxury

Open calculator
Selling fee
9.5% (item only)

Included in commission
Per-order
$5 seller fee + 2.9% cashout
Listing
  • Commission is 9.5% for a seller in good standing — and every new seller starts there, at a seller rating of 90. It is not a tier you earn.
  • Commission RISES with cancellations, it doesn't start high: each seller cancellation costs 10 rating points and each successful sale adds 2. Rating 70–89 pays 15%, 50–69 pays 20%, and below 50 you're suspended with sales still charged 25%. Canadian rates run higher throughout (12.4% in good standing).
  • A per-sale seller fee applies on top of commission and depends how you hand the item over: $0 if you drop off in the US, $5 if you use a prepaid label. It varies widely by country — Germany and the UK drop-off are $2, and 'other' markets reach $30.
  • Cashing out costs 2.9% of the amount withdrawn (3.1% for some locations and currencies); Canadian sellers are exempt. This is a percentage, not the flat fee often quoted — batching payouts does not reduce it.
  • Authentication is included — no separate fee. Failed authentications return the item to the seller without payout.
  • Apparel and luxury categories may have different commission rates than sneakers. Verify in your account dashboard before relying on this for high-value sales.
Last verified 2026-07-24 Payout: Funds released after authentication and ship to buyer (typically 5-10 days)

Listing
  • Reverb charges a 5% selling fee on the total sale amount, including the shipping the buyer pays.
  • Payment processing through Reverb Payments is 3.19% + $0.49 per transaction — noticeably higher than the 2.9% + $0.30 most fee guides quote. Reverb Preferred Sellers pay 2.99% + $0.49.
  • The 5% selling fee has a floor and a ceiling: minimum $0.50, and it caps at $500 once the sale passes $10,000.
  • Cross-border orders can add a further 1%. Transactions inside the EEA count as domestic and are exempt.
  • Listing an item in a currency other than your payout currency adds a 2.5% conversion fee on the payout subtotal.
  • Bump (promoted listings) and shipping labels are separate optional costs and are not included in these calculations.

Frequently asked

Which marketplace has the lowest fees?

It depends on sale price and category. Etsy has the lowest base fee structure (6.5% transaction + 3%/$0.25 processing + $0.20 listing), but jumps to a much higher effective rate if a sale is attributed to Offsite Ads (12-15%). StockX is competitive on higher-value sneakers and streetwear, with seller-level discounts that bring the transaction fee down to 7% at Level 5. eBay's fees sit in the middle at 13.6% for most categories. Mercari is a flat 10% on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, with no separate seller processing fee. Poshmark's flat 20% above $15 is the highest of the major platforms.

Which marketplace pays out fastest?

Mercari leads on payout speed — direct deposit in 1-3 business days after the sale completes, or instant transfer for a fee. eBay holds funds for 2 days post-delivery confirmation. Poshmark requires waiting 3 days after the buyer receives the item. StockX releases funds after the item passes authentication (typically 5-10 days). Etsy defaults to weekly deposits but can be configured to daily, biweekly, or monthly.

Do platforms charge fees on shipping?

Most do. eBay's Final Value Fee applies to the full amount including shipping. Mercari's 10% selling fee applies to the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, and sellers pay no separate processing fee. Etsy's 6.5% transaction fee includes shipping. Poshmark bundles everything into their commission. StockX is unusual — buyers pay shipping fees directly to StockX separately, so seller fees only apply to the item price.

Can I avoid Promoted Listings and Offsite Ads fees?

eBay's Promoted Listings Standard is fully optional — sellers can opt out and won't be charged. Etsy's Offsite Ads program is optional for sellers under $10,000 in trailing-365-day sales (at a 15% rate). Once you cross that threshold, you cannot opt out, but the rate drops to 12% and is capped at $100 per order.

Which platform is best for sneakers and streetwear?

StockX dominates this category with built-in authentication and a streetwear-focused buyer base. Their seller fees start at 9% but drop to 7% at Level 5 after consistent verified trades. eBay also has a special Athletic Shoes & Sneakers rate of 8% on items $150+, which is competitive but doesn't include authentication.

How accurate are these comparisons?

Every platform's fee data is encoded as structured JSON in this site's source. Each calculator and this reference page show a last-verified date — for high-value sales, double-check current rates with each platform before relying on the calculator. Marketplace fee schedules change periodically.
